September is upon us, and there are a lot of great opportunities coming up, as well as a few schedule changes. Here is all the Tai Chi news you need to know:

Spots are going fast and we need to provide an initial count to Dr. Tsao next week.

Friday, September 5: Outdoor Classes Continue
Our outdoor classes continue at The Customs House Museum in Newburyport weather permitting. Short Form begins at 9:00; Long Form begins at 10:00.
September 7: Tai Chi Ball with Chris Himmel
This seminar will focus on Tai Chi Ball Qigong Patterns and the Tai Chi Ball form created by Great Bay Tai Chi founder Paul Mahoney. Tai Chi Ball is a great addition to your Tai Chi practice and enhances your understanding of Tai Chi body mechanics. Tai Chi Ball is required for students who wish to learn Tai Chi Saber. The seminar will run from 10:00am-12:00pm and cost $40 to attend.
September 8: Intro to Tai Chi for Beginners
Chris Himmel will lead this series introducing the fundamentals of Tai Chi for new students. The focus will be on learning the basic principles of Tai Chi and the first section of the Yang Style Short Form.
Classes will meet Mondays at 12:00pm-1:00pm from September 8 – October 27 and costs $125 to attend.
September 13: Breath and Being with Effie Stavrulaki
Sunday, September 14: Qigong Class Only, No Push Hands
There will be no Push Hands class today. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Qigong will still meet at 9:00am
September 20: Long Form Seminar with Chris Himmel
In this seminar, we will introduce the movements and sequence of the Traditional Yang Style Long Form. We will practice individual movements and Part 1 of the Long Form sequence. Students with previous Tai Chi experience will be able to compare the movements they are familiar with to the movements included in this style. Students new to Tai Chi will gain an understanding of the internal body mechanics and principles that define Traditional Taijiquan.

September 25: Intro to Tai Chi session with Greater Newburyport Adult and Continuing Education with Posy Veator
September 27: The Art of Loving Wisely with Matthew Daniell

October 18-19: Tai Chi Seminars with Dr. Jesse Tsao
October 25: Calm Mind with Matthew Daniell
November 2: Chinese Martial Arts Autumn Invitational Tournament
For the past two years, members of Great Bay Tai Chi have competed in the Chinese Martial Arts Autumn Invitational tournament. Several students plan to compete this year.
The tournament will take place on Sunday, November 2, at Fore Kicks II in Marlborough, MA. Doors open at 8:00am and competition begins at 9:00.
