Our March Sunday Seminar will be on Tai Chi Ball. Date and details coming soon!

A note about class size

It has been great to see so many full classes lately.  We’ve been lucky to gain some new students recently, and we are looking forward to continued growth.  That being said, sometimes space becomes a constraint, and there are some who would prefer to be in a smaller class.  Recently, our Thursday classes in particular have been quite large.  If you are looking for a smaller Short Form class where you can get some more individual attention, please consider our Wednesday classes at 10:30am and 6:30pm at Internal Arts New England in Salisbury.

For a full list of classes in Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, please visit:

That’s it for now.  See you in class!

The Art of Loving Wisely: A Buddhist Meditative Approach

A half-day retreat with Matthew Daniell, Saturday January 28, 10 am – 12:30 pm
Internal Arts New England
To love and be loved wisely is one of the greatest joys and also one of the greatest challenges of being alive. Often wise love feels like a fleeting gift that we can’t control. True enough, but it also expresses qualities of the heart that can be discovered and cultivated intentionally. The Buddhist practices of mindfulness and loving kindness can positively affect the quality of how we relate to ourselves, those close in our lives, and all those we encounter in our daily lives. In this half-day workshop, guided and silent sitting meditation sessions will be combined with walking periods and time for discussion. New and experienced meditators alike are welcome to attend, as we explore Buddhist-inspired skill sets to help us to love wisely, and live deeply, in the present moment.
The fee for this workshop is $45.

Mindfulness in Stillness and Motion: A Morning of Meditation and Qigong

Mindfulness is the capacity to pay attention to the present moment, on purpose, and in a friendly, curious and open way. Bringing more mindful moments in our daily lives enhances our physical and psychological wellbeing. We can strengthen our ability to be more mindful with both formal sitting meditation practice as well as with mindful movement via a practice such as Qigong. In this workshop we will briefly introduce the latest scientific evidence of the benefits of mindfulness and then practice it in silence with sitting and movement forms. There will be time for questions and debriefing at the end. No past experience with meditation or Qigong is needed. All are welcome.

The fee for this workshop is $40. Space is limited!

Sunday 12/18

  • Our Sunday Seminar Series will continue with Tai Chi Martial Applications.  In this seminar we will look at the martial applications hidden in the Tai Chi form.  Studying the applications of Tai Chi movements offers us a better understanding of each movement and how the form is built. The cost to attend this seminar is $40. Space is limited!

Monday 12/26

  • Internal Arts New England will be closed.  No Great Bay Tai Chi or other classes will be held.  Other schedule changes are possible.  We will keep you informed of these changes as they develop.  Please refer to our Google Calendar to stay up to date.

Announcing Our New Location

A Look Ahead

Great Bay Tai Chi is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of “Internal Arts New England” in Salisbury, MA.  Located at 102 Bridge Road (Route 1), this nearly 2,000 square foot space will serve as a headquarters for Great Bay Tai Chi in Massachusetts and will allow us to bring in other services such as yoga and meditation, as well as other workshops.  Work on customizing the space to suit our needs has already begun, and we anticipate being able to hold classes there by the end of the year.

Getting the new teaching space ready comes with a number of extra expenses outside of our regular operating costs.  A few people have already committed funds and resources into making this new venture a reality (Thank You!).  If you would also like to be part of helping make our new space as inviting and conducive to our practice as possible, you will find a link below that you can use to donate toward that goal.  As a thank you, anyone who donates $30 or more will receive an “Internal Arts New England Founding Member” t-shirt.  Those to who donate $120 or more will receive their choice of a “Great Bay Tai Chi” or “Internal Arts New England” zip up hooded sweatshirt.

I hope you will join in our excitement about this next step as we continue to offer the best possible instruction in Tai Chi and related practices.  Many thanks to Paul and everyone else involved in keeping these arts alive and our community growing.  We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
