Hello Great Bay Tai Chi Community!
We hope you are enjoying the recent change in weather. We had a beautiful day for our outdoor classes last Friday and are looking forward to enjoying the Newburyport Waterfront as much as possible.
On June 13, Great Bay Tai Chi founder Paul Mahoney made a cameo appearance at our Long Form class at Custom House Maritime Museum Newburyport on Friday. Learning from Paul is always a wonderful experience, and our students were grateful for the surprise opportunity.
Here is the Tai Chi news you need to know:
July 3: Silent Practice
On Thursday, July 3, we will have our Silent Practice session. Silence begins at 8:35am and we will begin practicing the Short Form at 8:40. We will maintain silence until 8:55.
July 4: Pop-Up with Pam Jacobson
Internal Arts New England is officially closed on Friday, July 4, but Pam will be holding a Free Pop-up class at 9:00am. These classes are a great opportunity to get some extra practice in.
July 6: 4 Seasons Qigong Summer Set
Our Sunday morning Qigong class will continue on July 6 with 4 Seasons Qigong and a focus on the Summer Set. These classes are open to anyone, regardless of experience.
July 7: Daoism Study Group: Eva Wong's Lieh-tzu begins at Part 1
Our Daoism Study Group is growing as we prepare to begin discussing Eva Wong’s interpretation of the Lieh-tzu text. This is an excellent text to start with if you have never studied Daoism before. We meet on Mondays at 4:15pm both at Internal Arts New England and via Zoom. Please email Chris@greatbaytaichima.com if you are interested in joining us. The study group is free to attend, though donations are accepted. This helps defray the costs of holding the studio available and any charges incurred by bringing in guest speakers. Author/Translator Ken Liu joined us on Week 15 (you can check out the recording of that meeting in the post archive), and I have reached out to several other potential guests that I hope will join us at some point. If you would like to donate online, the easiest way is to Venmo @HimmelTaiChi. If you prefer another option, please feel free to let me know.
This link to the publisher’s website offers suggestions for online book sellers. Of course, you can always support your local bookstore.
July 12: A Morning of Insight Meditation with Ted Jones
On Saturday, July 12, Ted Jones returns to Internal Arts New England for his workshop: A Morning of Insight Meditation.
That’s all your Tai Chi news for now.
Happy Practicing!
